Dexter Season Finale - The British Invasion
Finally! I've been waiting to post about this episode all week! (The finale was leaked and I watched it as soon as I could. Patience isn't one of my virtues.)
So what did you guys think? Honestly, I thought it was good, but not great. Everything wrapped itself up just a little too tidily for my taste. Doakes got blown up by Lila (that bitch) and the cops found the body of that drug dealer in there with him. Dex was off the hook in the first 10 minutes! What the hell?!
And what was all that teasing us about Lila's shady past if they weren't going to elaborate on that a little? OK, so she's in the country illegally and using a false name. Why? I was hoping to find that out. Nope. I think finding out about Lila's evil past would have made her death that much better. But don't get me wrong, it was lovely to see her die; I just wanted a little ... more.
Also, I said before that I didn't want the season to end on a cliffhanger, but c'mon! There was nothing left to entice me into watching Season 3. At the end of Season 1 there was the new development of Doakes tailing Dexter, and of Rita finding Paul's shoe in the yard. They were just small things, but they were small things that kept me wondering.
I don't know. I still loved the show, and the season was really great, but I was just a little disappointed in the finale. I expected to be shocked, and I wasn't, really. I'm still looking forward to next season, though, and will be for the next 9 months.

Babette: There is still stuff for season 3. In one of my earler posts I had predicted that Doakes would die and LaGuerta would spend a lot of season 3 trying to clear his name. That might happen, though it appears season 3 will bring a new "evolved" Dexter with a new, or at least altered, code.
I agree with you that it ended a little too tidily but it felt satisfying not to have to wait to see what happens. I am still excited about a season 3 and hopefully those writers will get their act together and get creative. I would be willing to donate 25-50 bucks to the Daniel Cerone fund. I love his work and will help anyway I can.
I guess we'll have to wait for next season to see if any of that comes to fruition. Other than the La Guerta thing, though, I'm kind of at a loss for ideas about Season 3.

All i have to say after 2 weeks of silence is this: The finale was well worht the wait. Lila is gone....THANK GOD! i am sad to see doakes got killed off. The Dexter/Doakes tension made the show...at least for me. I give this season a 10 out of 10 - it was brillant. Can't wait to buy it on DVD. Anyways, this will be last post for a while. Now that the season is over...there is nothing left for me to talk about.
See ya'll next season.
Cheers

Until next season, K! Cheers!
One thing he'll have to be careful of now, though, is his 'sloppy' blood work. He'll have to be more careful about letting killers off the hook through his evidence since that was something he was already questioned about.
Doakes will be missed.
