We saw The Simpsons Movie late last night, or, to be more accurate, very early this morning. And I've gotta say, it was all that I'd hoped for and more. Of course, I didn't have ridiculous expectations. I just hoped it would be like a really long, good episode. And it was, but with a few added 'naughtier than TV allows' parts. Not so many that it was distracting or annoying, but just enough to make you remember, "Oh yeah. It's The Simpsons Movie. They can do that."
The one thing that I found slightly disappointing was the fact that the peripheral characters in the show didn't have much of a role at all in the movie. They were all there, but I just think there wasn't enough time to give every extra character time to shine, as well as make sure the Simpson family had the spotlight, and maintain some semblance of a plot.
Long story short, it was damn good, and I'm so glad I was able to go and see it.

Why yes, that is yours truly loitering outside the Kwik-E-Mart sipping a Squishee. And no, Joe and I weren't the only nerdy Simpsons fans there taking pictures of this converted 7-11.
In case you didn't know, eleven 7-11's around the US were converted into Kwik-E-Mart's in celebration (or whatever) of The Simpsons Movie coming out at the end of July. One of those was in Bladensburg, MD (just outside DC), and only about 15 miles away from me! WooHoo! This is definitely one of the only times I was glad to live in the area I do since only a few 7-11's were converted, and they were in major cities.
Anyhoo, since I have been watching The Simpsons since age 9 - when the first season started - I've always want to go to Springfield. But of course, since it's a cartoon, I knew it was never going to be.
UNTIL NOW!!! (Sorta)
Let's take a tour of the Bladensburg Kwik-E-Mart, shall we? Here are a few shots of the building's exterior.

Moving indoors, we run into a few familiar faces. There's Apu guarding the magazines!
And Homer. Eating, of course.
And little Ralphy.
Ralphy's dad, Chief Wiggum was there as well, hangin' by the Squishee machine, but we had our hands full so I didn't get a photo of him. =[
I did happen upon Jasper in the freezer, though!
While there, we got ourselves some Squishees and few cans of Buzz Cola. We got there kind of late, though, and the Krusty O's were totally gone. They are apparently also selling copies of Radioactive Man (according to some random dude we talked to outside), and if I don't get a copy, I just might die.
Anyway, here a few other items of interest from inside the Kwik-E-Mart. Enjoy!
